FIRST Team #2643 “Dark Matter” is a robotics club from Santa Teresa High School in San Jose, California. It is made up of a group of students who share a common interest in science, technology, engineering and math (STEM). The team enjoys sharing their love and knowledge of robotics and engineering with their community in an effort to help the FIRST family grow. They participate in events such as the Bay Area Science Festival and Scout-a-Rama where they spoke to kids and parents about joining FIRST. Come support our team at these events!
We attended our last competition of the 2018 season, in Fresno, California. We are very happy with the performance of our robot this year and are motivated for our offseason competitions along with next Build Season. We made it to quarterfinals at this final competition of the 2018 season and know this is only the beginning of climbing the competition ladder to one day attend Worlds.
Silicon Valley Regional 2018
Silicon Valley Regional is an event that we attend every year. We worked extra hard in this competition because there were many teams that we could learn from them. We offered as much help as we could to the few rookie teams that were there because everyone was a rookie at some point and we wanted to help mitigate the anxiety of being a rookie in a competition full of hardened veterans.
Canadian Pacific Regional 2018
The 2018 competition season was very special to our team as we had the opportunity to attend and compete in three regional competitions this season. A highlight of our competition season was our team's trip to Canada to compete in the Canadian Pacific regional. On this trip we had to opportunity to explore Downtown Victoria when we were not competing. At competition our team performed very well and advanced all the way to semi-finals in the elimination rounds of competition. We are thankful for the opportunity to attend this event and excited for the rest of competition season.
End of Build Season 2018
The end of build season was just as exciting as the last! We are all very excited to go to our first competition in Canada. We're confident with the robot this year because we put our souls into the work that we did.
2018 Kickoff!
Today the team took the light rail down to SJSU to go to the 2018 kickoff to see the new game live and start the new season. The Game Manual can be found by clicking the link.
Bernal Middle School Demo
The team took the 2017 robot to Bernal Middle School to demo our team and introduce robotics to students and get them interested in the STEM field.
Central Valley Regional
Team 2643 entered its first competition of the year. We learned a lot about strategies and had many positive interactions with the other teams. Members are proud of each other's efforts and spirit! The coconut shells we brought were a unique addition to this year's competition. We implemented a new system of scouting which allowed members to gain experience scouting in both the pits and the stands.
